this week's loss and the Bills big win in Jacksonville? This was another sloppy Jets game, but this
time against a better defense than Miami's with not much room for error. Like I said, Cassel just
needed to manage, which he did, though he didn't impress me much otherwise (though he didn't
turn the ball over; again, another key to the Patriots winning these types of games).
Overall, the Pats offense didn't look that strong, and it looks like the offensive line forgot how to
block now that Brady is gone. I can't take away from the Jets D line though, which did really look like
the strongest part of the entire team. If it weren't for the pass rush and the fact that the Pats were
held to 100 total yards rushing (Maroney with only 16 of those) the game would have been
much harder to watch for Jet fans.
Once again, Farve throws the costly interception! It seems to happen in almost every "big" game
he plays in (though it is only the 2nd game, the Jets did have something to prove against an
ailing Pats team). The turnover led to the only Pats touchdown, and ultimately proved to be too
big of a lead to overcome. Also, Mangini, why run three straight times inside the 5 and settle
for a field goal when you have the almighty Farve at the helm? Play action? Bootleg? Something
other than three identical runs? This guy's decisions are really boggling my mind.
Next week the Jets meet their first huge obstacle in the Chargers, a team that could easily be 2-0
if we take away two last second comebacks in two consecutive weeks. These guys are going
to be angry and playing as hard as they can at home on Monday Night, and I don't think there's
really any chance for the Jets to win that game after watching them play schoolyard football for the
past two weeks.
