NFL Week of our Discontent

Well football fans, here it is, the most irrelevant set of games on the NFL schedule. The final week of the NFL pre-season. The most highly un-anticipated set of games, so bad that even the most ardent NFL fan takes a flyer for the week. There is usually more excitement in the NFL pro-bowl.

By now the could-be's have been separated from the could-not's, and any player with any kind of veteran experience has had his helmet confiscated so that he doesn't even think of entering the game.

This is the one week each year that I feel that the NFL owners should open the doors for free. They will still make their money on parking, concessions, etc, by why should any fan of the game pay to watch this mess.

Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this week. If the pre-season was shortened by a week, we would have just reached this point a week earlier.

Oh well, at least we can take comfort in the fact that the "REAL" games are only a week away.
