favre won't make the difference
Well, well... here we go again NY fans. The management has spent a grunch of cash to bring an over-the-hill QB to NYC.... whoopee. When will they ever learn? Anyone remember Vinny Testaverde? How about the Mets brining Willy Mays back to NYC?... One guy can't do it - and Favre won't make the difference. The problem is not so much with the Jets QB as it is with the front line, pass defense and particularly the dreaded 4th quarter "prevent" style passs defense the Jets have always used to the huge advantage of the opposition... I have been a NYJ fan since they were the Titans... #4 isn't going to be the deal maker... Bottom line is the JETS were a mediocre team in 2007 and they will be a mediocre team in 2008.

nonsense! Fav-ruh alone might not be the difference maker - but there are a lot of changes on this JETS team... in fact, given the press-coverage the JETS have had this off-season, I'm quite surprised to see you omit the additions of Alan Faneca, Calvin Pace, Damien Woody, Tony Richardson, and Bubba Franks. Not to mention draftees Vernon Gholston and Dustin Keller. That combined with a much easier schedule than last year, I'm thinking the JETS win 10 this year - sneaking a playoff appearance.
oops... almost forgot Kris Jenkins.
I hope you're correct! But I tink you are placing too much importance on the offense. While it's nice to a couple of good new linebackers, this is not really new. JETS generally have good LBs. The pass defense in the secondary will kill our chances... the easy schedule is moot - because if, as I believe, they will still be a mediocre team, a playoff berth will not lead to a championship... The way the playoffs are setup to make money for the owners and TV sponsors, most of the teams that make them are mediocre... we need a change in philosophy in the front office and on the coaching staff before the JETS become a good team again. But as I said in the outset, I hope I am wrong and they do play well this year.
ok - we missed the playoffs... but we won nine! and woulda won more if it weren't for those meddling kids...
